Analysis of academic self-efficacy of medical students learning English for specific purposes

Introduction. English for Specific Purposes focuses on teaching and learning subject specific knowledge which includes language skills that particular learners need a purpose. Self-efficacy is determined by subjective beliefs about one?s own abilities, also applies to the academic setting of studying Purposes. Academic self-efficacy represents conviction students their abilities successfully fulfil tasks at designated levels. The goal this research examine degree medical who learn purposes Faculty Medicine University Novi Sad, with respect gender, year study, grade achieved in previous course English, length before enrolling Faculty. Material Methods. study included 58 students. researchers used College Self-Efficacy Scale questionnaire developed Owen Froman (1988) assess self-efficacy. Results. Three significant factors were identified: general self-competence, communication professor, attendance lectures, self-competence being most factor. Considering independent variables, only showed statistical significance. Establishing as such predictor can be explained fact good grades high point average are presented very desirable outcomes. However, does not necessarily mean having better or correct use language. Conclusion. Further into topic necessary, expanding number participants, programs variables.
